The Mothers

I did this in mid 2015

This painting is about a woman and her son who lived in a strange village that is seemingly cut off from the rest of the world. All of life's necessities are provided for them on a yearly basis and those who live there are content but not necessarily happy. Many strange things happen here, but of the most horrifying are a spiritual band of mothers whose children were taken from them too soon. They harbor seething jealousy for the living and nightly steal children from the village and leave them in the snow by morning.
