So in light of The Dragon Prince season three release on Netflix, and since I'm back working at the studio I got an opportunity to snag a fraction of the paintings I did for the show over the 2+ years I worked on it. I'll post more soon as there are still TONNES I'd like to rescue and post here.
For almost all of these I was simply a color designer but since a lot of these were matte paintings I had some creative sway over the environment design. I was often provided some sort of line art (sometimes more or less detailed, and sometimes mere chicken scratch) or a rough 3d model as a base from there I basically had free reign (with my art directors input ofcourse) to design the colors, textures and lighting as I saw fit. I think this job had the perfect balance of personal creative freedom and outside direction so it was a blast.
